Regular courses
Courses for beginners and advanced learning basic techniques of molding, decorating and firing of ceramics, including potter's wheel (adults).
The Ceramic Workshop School of the Museu del Cântir d'Argentona is managed by IXIÓ Association for the training, creation, research and dissemination of ceramics.
Adults:
Schedule Tuesday, Wednesday and / or Thursday: Mornings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and afternoon 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. To choose between 3, 4, 5 or 6 hours per week
Course from October to July. During the school period the school calendar is followed with its holidays.
Initiation
We consider in this group all the people who have a first contact with clay. We work with the basic techniques of construction of pieces; marrells, iron, sculpture and lathe (optional) and finishing; basically low-temperature glazes and glazes.
Theoretical classes are held in groups outside of workshop hours.
Scheduled theoretical:
- General vision of ceramics. (commented slides)
- Clays and Pastes
- Glazes (low temperature)
- Glazes (low temperature)
Improvement
This group is formed by people leaving the initiation group or with previous learning, who after having worked on the various basic techniques opt to delve deeper into a certain process or processes. The work program is proposed individually between the interest of the student and the orientation of the school. Through a monitoring sheet, practical exercises and the beginning of research work are developed.
Theoretical classes are held in groups outside of workshop hours.

- Pastes (high temperature)
- Glazes (high temperature)
- Ovens and firing systems.
Specialization
Learning is established in three basic work groups. These are students who, in parallel with their advanced work, choose a group of their interest, or people who want to specialize in a specific topic.
Research Group
The topics are agreed upon among the group members based on proposals from the school. The time and effort limit is established by the development of the work itself. The topics are exclusively related to the technical part. Research carried out:
- Raku Glazes
- Porcelain Pastes
- Ash Glazes (high temperature)
- Reduction Glazes (high temperature)
- Dyed Pastes (porcelain - refractory - slab)
- Metallic Lustres and Reflections
- Naked Raku
- Recycling Processes.
Fairs Group
Formed by people interested in a craft-type work, in which specialization in the work involves small productions and the subsequent commercialization of the product mainly at fairs.
Exhibitions Group
This group is made up of people who develop their own line of work and evolve a style of unique pieces.
Monographic Workshops
Aimed to address very specific topics, with intensive hours and taught by specialists in the various subjects.
