Pell d’Argila is a photographic project that the Granollerí (now Tarragoní) photography lover Ramon Forns has carried out from the fall of 2020 to the summer of 2023.
Numerous religions have placed the origin of human creation in mud, earth, clay. Since ancient times, clay has also been used for medicinal purposes and beauty treatments, to heal the skin from diseases and pollutants. It is also used in early childhood education to work, among others, on the affective, intellectual and motor development of children, learning to control force and exploring creativity and the senses.
Clay evokes the cycle of life: the original creation, we model in evolution, and the undeniable earthly destiny.
Based on twenty images, Forns invites us to reflect on the relationship we currently have with our bodies. On the one hand, the hands model their body with clay, as in creation, covering the supposed imperfections, modeling a new image to the taste of the craftsman himself and the own sensations that this causes him. On the other hand, clay as a therapy that nourishes and revitalizes our skin, and eliminates the toxins that we no longer want. All this in a process of esteem, acceptance and worship of our own body, where the images evoke this moment of relaxation and introspection from the deepest respect.
We will therefore see humans who play with clay, with light and shadow, in images of a chiaroscuro style that generates an atmosphere of mysticism. The beauty of human diversity shown through twenty-five participants.
