Vallverdú, an artist of terracotta sculptures, often large-format, presents us in this exhibition, at the Museu del Càntir d’Argentona, mostly small-format works to create an intimate connection with the spectators and invite them to a more personal and direct reflection.

This proposal explores themes such as history, with Catharism and witch hunts as a backdrop, and mythology and feminine symbology. The representation of women as a source of life, as well as the link between goddesses and witches with feminine strength, spirituality and mystery, invite us to reflect on the role of women throughout time.

Vallverdú’s works incorporate some enigmatic signs of their own, engraved on their surface, the result of his interest in hidden codes and encrypted languages, which encourage the visitor to decipher them.

I look out of the wide window that Jaume Vallverdú has in his studio in Concabella, in Pla de Sió in the region of La Segarra, and I see under the misty day, the green expanses that await spring to burst forth with vital force. Inside, however, there is no hibernation but an absolute explosion of art that shows us a new artist, very far from the one I met years before, when his soul was beginning to open up after a personal crisis that had led him to a closed, claustrophobic art.

Now, Vallverdú calls out to the world his new objectives, eager to be heard. He thus cultivates the expression of an ethereal vitalism, in which under towers and architectural ensembles, only imaginable in a world of ideas and dreams, he confers his particular and magical universe, full of structures overflowing with windows/holes, cabalistic signs and a thousand and one details that invite us to information.

In this way, he is rebuilding his mental city, developed in a creatively magical and spiritual way, in which women, witches, and goddesses coexist, who reign in his inner spirit, now shared with us through this exhibition.

Vallverdú is only alone when he is with himself. Now, with this magical exhibition, he allows us to share his brilliant artist's soul like never before.
