Josep Santilari and Pere Santilari. Reality from a contemporary perspective.

The exhibition by Josep Santilari and Pere Santilari that is presented at the Museu del Càntir on the occasion of the Winter Festival, has been organized and curated by Monica Ramon from the Artur Ramon ART gallery in Barcelona.

Josep Santilari and Pere Santilari are an exceptional case of twins who share the same way of drawing and painting. His small-format works, made with a unique technique of extreme skill and precision, are often confused with photographs. Over the last thirty years his work has addressed diverse themes in art history, including still life, the female nude, and vanitas. The Santilaris update these classic themes by inserting subtle and sharp comments on contemporary times into their works, and they impose themselves on the national and international scene as masters of realism.

The works of the Santilari brothers are distinguished by their exceptional thoroughness and a realism that is intertwined with contemporaneity.

“The personal pictorial philosophy of the artists is perfectly demonstrated in this exhibition, which perfectly combines the most current art with a look at that art, which we describe as classic and which is ultimately the reason and evolutionary cause of it. Escaping from the dialectic between exact reality and poetic reality, the Santilari brothers offer us a reality between real and imaginary, in which we all find ourselves comfortable, especially because of their wisdom in the skill of the craft of painting and their ability to transmit the emotions".
